London, UK People come to counselling or psychotherapy for different reasons. Some people are coping with a sudden crisis or a new challenge - a divorce, a new relationship or job, a bereavement, ill health or
a redundancy. Others are aware of wanting to talk over ongoing difficulties which may be evoking a range of feelings from vague dissatisfaction or frustration to acute confusion, powerlessness and isolation. The expression 'counselling' is usually preferred when the work focuses on one specific issue, often for a limited period of time. One way or another, most people considering therapy or counselling are seeking to resolve problems.
Life can be a perplexing struggle for all of us at times, with its never-ending and sometimes painful changes and transitions. We are not always aware of the remarkable resources we have within ourselves. It is my experience that it can be immensely useful and effective to have reliable, impartial, creative, skilled support. I see therapy as a joint endeavour in which we have uninterrupted time to focus on your issues. Therapy has the potential to help you identify a more fulfilling and
satisfying way to live. I work according to a code of ethics which stipulates absolute confidentiality and I provide a safe, exploratory and non-judgmental environment. The areas I work with include I have completed four years of intensive experiential training at Spectrum, a centre for humanistic and integrative psychotherapy accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy. I am in continuing training and ongoing supervision at Spectrum and have counselling experience in the voluntary sector (ChildLine, Victim Support and Domestic Violence Intervention Project) and professional experience as a qualified solicitor.
